Registre du domaine public (suite)
Tel qu’annoncédans CultureLibre.ca en mars 2006 , Access Copyright, la Fondation Wikimedia et Creative Commons Canada travaillent à la création d’un registre des oeuvres dans le domaine public au Canada. Quelques détails furent donnés dans l’édition du 26 juillet 2007du bulletin de l’agence de gestion collective des droits de reprographie (photocopie).
En effet, dans une missive électronique récente, Access Copyright lance un appel à la communauté afin de trouver un nom au registre :
While the new registry will be both comprehensive and accessible, it also requires an easily identifiable name, which is where you come in. The public domain project needs your creative input. And who better to ask than our affiliates – Canada’s greatest creative resource!
Our hope at Access Copyright is that the new online registry will be a model for similar systems from other parts of the globe. As such, the name should brief, catchy, and one which could work for other countries wishing to create a registry of its own public domain works. Other than that, the only limits are your imagination and originality.
This is your chance to be an integral part of this ground-breaking project. Please send any and all suggestions, whether a list of one or 100, via email to the Communications Department at editor (à) accesscopyright.ca. We will pare down the list and keep you posted on what the winning name is.
Il est encore incertain si ce registre contiendra des métadonnées concernant les oeuvres francophones. CultureLibre.ca a envoyé un courriel à Access Copyright afin de vous renseigner, chers lecteurs. Voici la réponse :
The registry is intended to cover all Canadian published works that are in the public domain, regardless of what language the works are in. In the initial data used to populate the registry, only French works that are already in Access Copyright’s database will be included. But, to answer your question, yes, the public domain registry will certainly include public domain works that are inFrench.
Donc oui, les oeuvres en français seront dans le registre, d’autant plus qu’il sera basé sur des concepts du Web 2.0. La communauté sera donc capable de participer à la gestion du fonds de métadonnées.
